I offer non-judgmental and practical support for new or expecting mothers, fathers, adoptive parents, and couples. Welcoming a new baby into your life can be a beautiful time full of love, excitement and connection. But it can also feel incredibly overwhelming, exhausting and frightening. If you're struggling with birth trauma, your new role, your relationship, your body, your thoughts, feelings or moods, I want you to know that you are not alone, there's nothing wrong with you and it doesn't mean you're a bad parent. You just need more support through this time of great change and I'm here to help you find your way.
First and foremost, no matter why you are seeking therapy, trust between therapist and client is essential. For this reason, I want to be transparent about my knowledge and expertise. I am an experienced therapist and I am good at what I do (for details about my education and training, visit my About page), but I am new to working with Perinatal issues. I am expanding my practice to supporting new families because I am a mother of two young children myself and have experienced and witnessed the incredible challenges that this season of life sometimes presents. I also know intimately how valuable therapeutic support can be in helping new families through these difficulties. As a Licensed therapist I already posses many of the tools needed to effectively support people struggling with Perinatal issues, but in order to honor the special circumstances of the perinatal experience, I have received additional certificate training in Perinatal Mental Health and continue to seek Perinatal education and consultation.
I bring compassion, warmth, deep respect, and unwavering faith in my clients' ability to experience health and healing. I tailor my approach to meet the unique needs of every client, drawing on many different modalities and evidenced based practices. This allows the creative and intuitive freedom to find what works and what makes the greatest impact.
My office is baby friendly, so please bring your little one along if that feels right to you. I also offer home visits during your first weeks postpartum if getting out and about just feels like too much. You deserve to be nurtured just as much as your new baby - especially during this time of deep vulnerability and newness. When you get your own needs met, the whole family benefits.
I have worked with people struggling with eating disorders for the past 8 years at every level of care and I have seen many of them make incredible change in their lives. The real reward for all of the hard work recovery requires is not simply freedom from behaviors - it's coming home to yourself in a new and profound way that gives you freedom to live joyfully and authentically. In order to get to that point of freedom, you have to keep doing the work after the behaviors have abated. I'm here to join you in this work. I'll bring my experience, my therapy tools, and my faith in your ability to live an incredible life.
